Carol Straquadine was born in Duluth, Minnesota. She grew up in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and in the countryside near Quincy, Illinois. It was here where her love of nature and the outdoors began.
Her career began in drafting when she was in her early 20’s in Dayton, Ohio. From there, she took college classes in design and photography. She is mostly self taught but has been privileged to take classes from artists such as Judy Crane, Caroline Jasper, Dominic Vignola, Sean Dye, and Tara Belk, to name a few.
Carol is a diverse painter interested in a variety of subjects, and equally inspired by a still life, a figure on the beach, or an old rusty car sitting on the side of the road. Her main concern is to create an honest, intuitive reaction to what she sees.
She is currently a member of the Atlanta Artist Center and is on the Fredrix Art Advisory Board.
