Originally from Winston-Salem, North Caroloina, Charley Seagraves has lived in Georgia most of his adult life. A writer, poet, and artist, Seagraves takes an unconventional approach to his art. His creations fit somewhere in the broad classification of "outsider art", art that supercedes the boundaries of a culture's standards.
For the past several years, his favorite surfaces have been wooden door panels, all 79 inches long but of different widths. Seagraves combines acrylic painting with sculptural effets created by mounting found objects on the boards. Among his favorites—wooden crutches, clocks, ice picks and children's letter blocks.
